Wallingford Morris is a friendly community-based men’s morris team from Wallingford, Oxfordshire.
We dance in a Cotswold Morris style of our own devising, drawing on South Oxfordshire dance traditions, that is simple to learn and elegant to perform.
We perform in white shirts and white trousers, with red and yellow striped baldrics featuring the historic shield from the Wallingford coat of arms.
The team is led by champion jig dancers Jack Worth (foreman) and Albert Hansell (squire).
We rehearse weekly throughout the year at Centre 70 from 8pm on Thursday nights and meet afterwards at the Cross Keys pub.
We perform at in Wallingford on May Day, at Wallingford’s ‘Bunkfest’ festival in September, and at many other events in and around the town.
Folk music is very inclusive and accessible and we’d encourage anyone to give it a go. We welcome complete beginners.
If you’d like to come along to one of our practices, or to book us for an event or a workshop, please get in touch by email or give us a call.
